Liverpool is said to be in advanced negotiations with Lille for the acquisition of the highly promising young center-back Leny Yoro, who has experienced a notable growth in his skills since joining the first-team setup, undergoing an “accelerated learning curve.”

The 18-year-old defender is drawing attention from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City. A potential significant transfer to the Premier League could materialize this month if any of these clubs are willing to meet the £78 million (€90M) price tag set by club president Olivier Létang.

The latest reports suggest that Liverpool and the Manchester clubs are engaged in “advanced” talks with Lille regarding the acquisition of the highly-regarded Yoro. While Liverpool is reportedly willing to make a substantial financial commitment, it appears unlikely that they will surpass the £75 million club transfer record set when signing Virgil van Dijk.

This does not diminish Yoro’s talent; however, it raises questions about the substantial investment for a player who is yet to prove his skills over an extended period or in a more competitive league. Despite this, Yoro is widely recognized as one of the most promising young center-back talents emerging in European football.

The phrase “accelerated learning curve” refers to Yoro’s rapid development. Throughout the current season, he has played 86% of all available minutes, totaling 1,737 minutes. By the season’s end, he is expected to comfortably surpass the 3,000-minute mark for the first time in his early career.
