Nottingham Forest are prepared to let go of a player to raise funds and create space as they finalize the signing of Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly prepared to negotiate the departure of Matt Turner after just a year with the club, as they aim to create space and raise funds for their pursuit of Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.

Turner, aged 29, joined Forest from Arsenal last August for a reported fee of around £10 million. Despite making 18 Premier League appearances, he shared goalkeeping duties with Matz Sels and Odysseas Vlachodimos. However, his playing time diminished significantly after a notable error against Arsenal, with Turner only making one brief substitute appearance after January.

Nuno Espírito Santo is now keen on bringing Carlos Miguel to Forest as his new first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming season. Forest are reportedly prepared to activate Carlos Miguel’s £3.4 million release clause to secure his services from Corinthians. Carlos Miguel is expected to feature in a crucial match against Sao Paulo tonight, and there may be fan protests regarding his potential departure from Corinthians.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has indicated that negotiations are ongoing on the player’s side, with plans to activate a €4 million release clause if everything proceeds smoothly.

This development suggests that Nottingham Forest’s goalkeeping department is undergoing changes at the City Ground. Alan Nixon of The Sun reports that Matt Turner “could now be sacrificed to balance the books.” Turner, a United States international, is reportedly attracting interest from two European clubs, and Nottingham Forest are eager to finalize a deal.

Turner, who spent most of his career at New England Revolution in MLS, joined Arsenal for approximately £5 million in 2022. He has recently been back in the US, representing his country during the summer.
