League One side Stevenage are targeting a loan move for former Charlton Athletic and Swindon Town goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott.

Stevenage is targeting a loan move for 27-year-old goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott, who is currently with SPFL side Hibernian after joining them in June 2023 for an undisclosed fee.

Alex Revell’s team is hopeful they can convince the talented goalkeeper to return to the EFL, provided they can agree on a wage structure, according to Alan Nixon.

The Ghana international was one of several players who left Swindon Town at the end of the 2022 season following their play-off defeat to Port Vale to join Ben Garner at Charlton Athletic. However, his stint with the Addicks was short-lived as he moved to Hibernian just a year later on a three-year contract.

Wollacott has also had spells at Bristol City, Clevedon Town, Weymouth, Bergsoy, Bath City, Woking, Truro City, Gloucester City, and Forest Green Rovers.

Considering his recent experience, a loan move for Jojo Wollacott could be a good deal for Stevenage. Since joining Hibernian, Wollacott has made only eight appearances due to a thigh injury early in the season and subsequently being benched.

After his successful season at the County Ground, his career seemed to be on an upward trajectory. However, his move to Charlton didn’t work out as expected. Ben Garner’s departure and the lack of favor from Michael Appleton led to limited opportunities for Wollacott.

For Stevenage, bringing in Wollacott could provide them with a talented goalkeeper eager to prove himself and get regular playing time, potentially benefiting both the player and the club.

Jojo Wollacott’s potential and experience in the lower leagues make him an attractive target for Stevenage. If Alex Revell’s side can secure another former Swindon Town star and provide him with a platform to perform in the third tier, they might land a gem.

Should Wollacott be available for a loan move, it’s likely other clubs would also express interest. The goalkeeper market is challenging, and the opportunity to sign a player who recently excelled in League Two could be too good for some to pass up.
