The former Sheffield Wednesday player has secured a transfer to a top-flight European club, despite experiencing a challenging period at S6.
When Danny Rohl took over at Sheffield Wednesday, his challenge was to get the best out of an overextended squad that was underperforming.
Xisco Munoz, the previous manager, had struggled to unlock the squad’s potential and failed to secure a win. Rohl, however, managed to turn things around by making some tactical adjustments to the team that Munoz could not get results from.
Jeff Hendrick, who was a key player under Munoz, found himself sidelined after Rohl’s arrival at Hillsborough. Similarly, another former Sheffield Wednesday player, who had limited opportunities under Rohl and made only nine appearances in the Championship last season, has now earned an exciting move to a top European club.

Former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Devis Vasquez has secured a loan move to Empoli in Serie A. The Colombian keeper has joined the Italian club on loan, with a reported €1 million (£840,000) option to buy him, according to Calcio Mercato.
The goalkeeper featured in nine consecutive Championship matches at the start of the season before being replaced by Cameron Dawson. Despite securing a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Leeds United and performing in a 1-0 home loss to Ipswich Town, his overall performances led to his loan being ended in January.

Danny Rohl’s decision to replace Devis Vasquez with young goalkeeper James Beadle was a bold move that proved crucial for Sheffield Wednesday last season. Beadle, who had been playing in League One with Oxford United up until January, was given the chance to step up despite his limited experience at the Championship level.
Rohl’s choice to trust Beadle over Cameron Dawson, who had years of Championship experience, was risky. However, Beadle adapted quickly and played a key role in Sheffield Wednesday’s remarkable survival. His standout performances included crucial clean sheets in the Owls’ final two matches of the 2023/24 Championship season against West Brom and Sunderland.
Beadle has since secured another loan move to Sheffield Wednesday, and Rohl can now be confident that his goalkeeper is not only up to Championship standards but also has the potential to excel further.
