His dad and brother played for the Wildcats

Arizona’s recruiting activities this month extend beyond convincing uncommitted players to join the Wildcats. They’ve also targeted recruits already committed elsewhere, and their efforts paid off recently with a significant local prospect.

3-star cornerback Dajon Hinton, previously committed to ASU, has decided to switch his commitment to Arizona. This change comes shortly after his official visit over the weekend. Dajon is the son of former UA cornerback David Hinton, who played for the Wildcats in the early 2000s. His older brother DJ Hinton was a walk-on receiver in 2017.

Dajon Hinton, standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 175 pounds, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 966 player in the 2025 recruiting class. He is ranked as the 84th-best cornerback nationally and the sixth-best prospect in Arizona. Initially committing to the Sun Devils on April 28, he chose ASU over offers from schools such as Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and TCU.

Hinton will play his senior season at Chandler Hamilton after attending Scottsdale Saguaro for his first three years of high school. During his junior year, Hinton showcased versatility by excelling at both cornerback and wide receiver, scoring three touchdowns.

His commitment marks the second time Arizona has successfully recruited a 2025 prospect from another school, following the addition of 3-star quarterback Robert McDaniel from Cal. The Wildcats currently boast eight confirmed commitments for this recruiting class, with additional players expected to announce their pledges soon after visiting this past weekend.
