Arsenal are reportedly still keen on signing Brentford star Ivan Toney this summer, according to Caught Offside.
Arsenal have made just one addition so far in the transfer window but are reportedly eager to bring in a new midfielder, with Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino being a key target for the Emirates Stadium.
While Arsenal had previously considered Ivan Toney as a top target for a new center-forward, their pursuit of him seemed to have waned in recent times. However, Caught Offside reports that the Gunners are still interested in the Brentford star and may make a concrete move in the coming days, though it’s not their current priority.
In addition, Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli is also keen on Toney and is preparing a £30m bid for Brentford. They are ready to offer Toney a three-year contract with an annual salary of £10m, though it remains unclear whether Toney would accept this offer if it materializes.
Toney to Arsenal
Toney is in the final year of his contract and has yet to decide on renewal, leading to ongoing speculation about his future. Brentford is reportedly open to selling him for a fee similar to the £30m bid that Al-Ahli is preparing.
The 28-year-old has demonstrated his goal-scoring ability in the Premier League in recent years, which initially led to expectations that top English clubs would pursue him this summer. However, despite links to several major Premier League teams, no club has significantly escalated their efforts to secure his signature.
Toney’s proven goal-scoring record could be a valuable asset for Arsenal, potentially helping them secure a league title next season. It will be interesting to see if the North London club decides to make a concrete move to sign him before the window closes.
