The Bulldogs are continuing to make plans for 2025.
Batley Bulldogs have made a key signing from their fiercest rivals, Dewsbury Rams, securing a deal for standout center Ollie Greensmith for the 2025 season. Greensmith, 24, will join Mark Moxon’s squad after three seasons with the Rams, where he scored 19 tries across 55 appearances in both the Championship and League 1.
A product of the Wakefield Trinity academy, Greensmith debuted in the Super League in 2021 and gained valuable first-team experience playing regularly for Doncaster.
Greensmith became a regular fixture at Dewsbury, where he consistently contributed to the team’s efforts. In 2023, he scored eight tries in 19 games, helping Dewsbury secure promotion to the Championship. However, the club faced relegation again this season.
Batley have now acted swiftly, bringing Greensmith into a squad that recently added another center, Joe Arundel, from the Bradford Bulls.
Additionally, the Bulldogs are reportedly interested in Hunslet’s standout, Jack Render, following his impressive performances in their unexpected promotion push. The 25-year-old has been a key player for Hunslet over the past three seasons, scoring an impressive 47 tries in 64 appearances.
Render has had a standout year, scoring 23 tries in 25 games, including a streak of tries in seven consecutive matches to help secure Hunslet’s return to the Championship.
This impressive form has caught Batley’s attention, and they’ve made a move for the former Featherstone Rovers player, who also captained Castleford Tigers’ academy. However, Hunslet is eager to retain Render and has offered him a new contract.
Batley, who finished tenth in the Championship last season, six points short of a play-off spot, are looking to strengthen their squad to improve their standing.
