The first one-day camp of this past summer for the Buckeyes was held on June 5. It was a camp that was loaded with talented in-state prospects and one of those was 2027 wide receiver Jamier Brown from Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne. After an outstanding performance Brown was awarded for his work Brown with a scholarship offer from Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline.
Brown returned to Ohio State in October as the Buckeyes hosted Iowa and rolled to a big victory over the Hawkeyes. He is not in Ohio Stadium today as the Buckeyes are playing Indiana, but Brown has still made big news. Brown has announced he has committed to Ohio State.
“First off they have shown me a lot of love,” Brown told Bucknuts. “They are always talking to me and my family. If we lose they always tell me what I can do better. Coach (Brian) Hartline is a good factor (too). He develops the best wide receivers. When I committed he told me how happy he was.”
Naturally, Brown’s choice was also influenced by head coach Ryan Day.
“Coach Day’s offence is excellent,” Brown remarked. “He is an excellent coach. He is very loving whenever I see him.
Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Tennessee, Missouri, Nebraska, Purdue, Maryland, Auburn, Miami, Texas A&M, and Cincinnati are among the more than two dozen universities that Brown has received scholarship offers from in addition to Ohio State.
Brown committed to the Buckeyes today, but why?
Brown remarked, “I just felt like I was ready to do it,” “Since I’m getting baptised tomorrow, I was planning to do it then. However, I made the decision to do it today.
The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Brown became the first Ohio prospect in the class of 2027 to get a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes when he accepted in June.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Brown is a 5-star prospect. He is the top prospect in Ohio, the second-best wide receiver, and the sixth-best prospect in the nation for 2027.
The first Ohio State 2027 commit is Brown. Five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. and one of Ohio’s best wide outs, Jaeden Ricketts, are two more 2026 pledges for Ryan Day, Mark Pantoni, and the staff.
Additionally, the Buckeyes’ 2025 recruiting class is exceptional. In the 247Sports team recruiting rankings, it is presently rated No. 1 in the nation, less than one point behind No. 1 Georgia, and has 25 commitments.
