The Steelers has just landed another veteran WR

The Pittsburgh Steelers make a splash at wide receiver in the most recent mock draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently looking for a wide receiver, and according to ESPN’s latest mock draft, they will avoid a trade and select their next starter with the first pick in the NFL Draft.

Mel Kiper released his third mock draft of the offseason, with the Steelers staying at No. 20 and selecting a star wideout from LSU. With their first-round pick, Pittsburgh selects Brian Thomas Jr., a quick pass-catcher who many consider to be one of the best wide receivers in this year’s class.

Steelers mock draft: LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr. pairs with George Pickens

“Just a few weeks ago, at the NFL combine, here’s what Steelers general manager Omar Khan said to reporters about quarterback Kenny Pickett: “I have full faith in Kenny.” So much has changed since then, huh? Pickett was traded to the Eagles after Pittsburgh signed Russell Wilson, and the team then traded a conditional Day 3 pick in 2025 for Justin Fields, completing a total overhaul of the quarterback depth chart. “For new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith to truly thrive, the Steelers should add a replacement for wideout Diontae Johnson, who was traded to Carolina,” Kiper writes.

“Thomas, who ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash at the combine, possesses an impressive combination of speed and size (6-foot-3). Last season, he caught the most touchdown passes in the FBS with 17. Pittsburgh had only 13 total touchdown passes in 2023. Thomas and George Pickens could be a dynamic pass-catching duo.”

Thomas finished his three-year LSU career with 1,897 yards and 24 touchdowns. He finished his college career with 68 receptions, 1,177 yards, and 17 touchdowns.

The Steelers are currently looking for a wide receiver trade, but if they don’t find one, a first-round pick is definitely on the table. And after meeting with Thomas at the NFL Combine, it’s not surprising that he could be their pick.
