Burnley might need to intensify their efforts to sign striker Andréas Hountondji, as Saint-Etienne is currently ahead in the race for his signature.
According to L’Equipe, Burnley have made ‘concrete progress’ in their pursuit of striker Andréas Hountondji, but Saint-Etienne currently leads the race for his signature. A recent report indicated that Burnley, under new manager Scott Parker, have been actively pursuing the SM Caen striker and have held discussions with him regarding a potential move to Turf Moor this summer.
According to L’Equipe, Andréas Hountondji, who impressed with Rodez in Ligue 2 last season, is currently being pursued by several clubs this summer. It is believed that he will depart from his current club, SM Caen, especially since he is in the final year of his contract. Burnley has made ‘concrete progress’ by initiating negotiations with the Beninese international.
Since then, two French clubs, Brest and Saint-Etienne, have entered the race for Andréas Hountondji, holding discussions about a potential transfer. Both clubs are interested in signing him this summer, with Saint-Etienne currently considered the most advanced in negotiations.
While this doesn’t guarantee Hountondji will join Saint-Etienne, it does indicate that Burnley may need to intensify their efforts if they wish to secure the striker’s signature.
