With reports emerging on Thursday evening suggesting that veteran wide receiver Deebo Samuel might be available for trade, it’s worth considering whether the Bills, who traded out of the first round of the draft, are exploring the possibility of acquiring him.

The Buffalo Bills surprised many during the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. Widely perceived to have a pressing need at the wide receiver position, the Bills were poised to address this need. However, they took an unexpected turn by trading not once, but twice, ultimately ending up outside of the first round. As a result, they now hold the 33rd overall pick, which marks the beginning of the second round on Friday.

Adding to the frustration for Bills fans, both trades, one with Kansas City resulting in the selection of Xavier Worthy, and the other with Carolina resulting in the selection of Xavier Legette, saw wide receivers being chosen by the opposing teams.

It seems the Bills weren’t eyeing the wide receivers selected by Kansas City and Carolina. Instead, all eyes might be on San Francisco, who picked Florida slot receiver Ricky Pearsall at 31 overall. Speculation has swirled around the defending NFC champions throughout the offseason, suggesting they might be open to trading veteran outside receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who’s due for a contract extension. However, veteran NFL reporter Mike Silver hints that there could be more to the situation than meets the eye.
