The Sky Sports commentary team has discussed the transfer rumors surrounding Leeds Rhinos’ standout player, Brodie Croft, regarding a potential return to the NRL.

Croft, who recently joined the Rhinos from Salford Red Devils, is reportedly being considered for a move to the Gold Coast Titans, according to reports in Australia.

Agent Chris Orr’s comments to the Daily Telegraph have further fueled the speculation, stating that his client, Croft, “absolutely has NRL aspirations and has NRL options in his contract every year.”

According to the report in the Telegraph, it’s mentioned that the Titans made an attempt to sign Croft before he decided to join Leeds for the ongoing season.

Regarding the rumors, Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin downplayed the possibility of Croft returning to the NRL, stating that it’s simply “his agent talking him up”. Wilkin was referring to Orr’s comments in which he suggested Croft “had regained his running game and become one of the most lethal runners in Super League.”

Following Wilkin’s implication that the comments were made to secure a move back to the NRL, Sky Sports presenter Brian Carney dismissed the suggestion that Croft was currently in good form.

“They were the words of his agent, but in my opinion, I don’t think Brodie Croft is anywhere near his best this season,” said Carney.

The Titans are facing issues in the halves, but it appears unlikely that Croft will be making the move there anytime soon.

Carney is correct in stating that Croft has not reached the level he achieved at Salford during his time with Leeds so far, with Rhinos fans hoping to see more from the playmaker in the coming weeks and months.

Croft himself will be eager to improve his form at Headingley, and considering Leeds reportedly paid £300,000 for him and Andy Ackers, the Rhinos won’t let the Australian go cheap.

The only scenario in which Croft leaves Leeds is if the Titans open up the checkbook, and even then, it’s hard to imagine that happening before the end of the season, most likely, not at all.
