Former Southampton midfielder Rory Delap has departed from his coaching role at Israeli club Maccabi Tel-Aviv after contributing to their league and cup double victory.

Working alongside fellow former Republic of Ireland international Robbie Keane, Delap played a key role in guiding The Yellows to their 25th league title.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv finished nine points ahead of Maccabi Haifa, largely due to the prolific scoring of star forward Eran Zahavi.

Maccabi owner Mitch Goldhar expressed gratitude to Robbie and his team, including Rory Delap, Dave Sarakan, Mike Stawell, and Phillip Hudson, for their hard work and dedication throughout the season, ultimately bringing the championship back to Maccabi.

The 47-year-old featured in 152 matches for Southampton from 2001 to 2006 and represented Ireland in 11 international matches.

There have been rumors linking Russell Martin’s Southampton with a potential move for Delap’s son, Liam, who is presently under contract with Manchester City.

Southampton have been linked to Rory Delap's son Liam, 21.

During his loan spell at Hull City, he scored eight goals in 31 matches, but despite his efforts, the team narrowly missed out on a spot in the Championship playoffs.

Manchester City reportedly rejected a bid from Southampton for Delap in 2022, valued at £16 million, following an impressive Premier League 2 campaign.

Since then, he has amassed 68 appearances in the Championship, playing for Stoke City and Preston North End in addition to his time with Hull City.
