Despite David Hancko’s impressive performance over the past two years in the Eredivisie, it’s been reported that the Slovakia international will not be joining Arne Slot at Anfield this summer.

Leicester City is reportedly considering making a bold move for highly-regarded Feyenoord defender David Hancko. With Callum Doyle set to return to Manchester City after his season-long loan, Leicester is expected to be in the market for a left-footed defender this summer. Hancko, a 37-cap Slovakia international, appears to be a perfect fit for their requirements.

Known for his versatility, Hancko can operate both as a centre-back and a left-back. His performances in the Eredivisie have been particularly impressive, showcasing exceptional abilities in ball progression through his passing and dribbling. Additionally, he poses a threat in attack, having contributed 11 goals and eight assists during his two seasons at Feyenoord.

According to The Mail, Leicester City is considering a move for Hancko and aiming to take advantage of Liverpool’s decision to pass on the opportunity to bring the Slovakian defender to Anfield, where manager Arne Slot is set to move this summer from Feyenoord. The report suggests that Hancko, aged 26, doesn’t align with Liverpool’s preference for younger defenders in the upcoming transfer window.

Earlier reports have indicated that Feyenoord would demand over €30 million (£26 million) for the transfer of Hancko, who still has four years left on his contract with the club. This asking price might prove too steep for Leicester City, especially considering their intention for a “low-key” summer transfer window, as mentioned by manager Enzo Maresca. The club is aiming to adhere to Profit and Sustainability regulations, which could limit their spending capacity.

City fans eager to watch Hancko in action will have the opportunity to do so this summer as Slovakia competes in Euro 2024. Slovakia has been placed in a group alongside Belgium, Ukraine, and Romania for the tournament.
