Marcus Windhager will not return to play this season due to a setback in his hamstring rehabilitation.

Marcus Windhager will not return to play this season due to a setback in his hamstring rehabilitation. The 21-year-old aggravated the muscle during training last week and is scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday.

EGM Football David Misson expressed frustration over the situation, stating, “This is a frustrating development for Marcus as he was close to making a return to play. The plan is that by getting him in for surgery now, Marcus will have the best opportunity to attack pre-season and set himself up for a full 2025.”

Mattaes Phillipou will need to complete training this week to prove he has recovered from the illness that caused him to miss Sunday’s game against Richmond.

Seb Ross remains in a race against time to return this year, while Jack Hayes successfully made his return after several months of rehab, playing in the VFL over the weekend.
