Right-back Rasmus Kristensen spent last season on loan at AS Roma and is likely to be on the move again this summer
Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen is scheduled to have a medical today in preparation for joining Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan. Kristensen, who was anticipated to return to Thorp Arch soon after representing Denmark at this summer’s European Championships, will instead move on loan after spending the previous season with AS Roma. During his time with the Serie A team, he made 29 appearances across all competitions.
Recent negotiations with Frankfurt have progressed quickly, leading to Kristensen’s imminent temporary move. While discussions about a permanent transfer were initially held, they stalled due to Leeds’ asking price, reportedly around £12.6 million. However, it seems Leeds have managed to raise the buyout option to £15 million.
Kristensen will reunite with former Leeds United teammate Robin Koch at Eintracht Frankfurt. Koch joined Frankfurt as a free agent after his loan spell and the expiration of his contract at Elland Road.
Kristensen, who joined Leeds in 2022 for a reported £10 million after a promising stint with Red Bull Salzburg, struggled to make an impact as Leeds was relegated to the Championship and was subsequently loaned to AS Roma.
Daniel Farke’s squad will play their first match since their Championship play-off final loss to Southampton tonight against Harrogate Town. Following this fixture, Leeds will head to Germany for a pre-season training camp.
