On December 27th, reports from Spain indicated that Manchester City took the initiative by being the first club to inquire about Savinho, currently on loan at Girona from Troyes.
The 19-year-old winger has impressed with five goals and five assists in 20 games this season, attracting interest from various clubs, including Barcelona, where sporting director Deco is keen on him.
Sport suggests that Manchester City could pose a challenge for Barcelona in securing Savinho’s signature. Barcelona is looking to reinforce its wide positions next summer, with Savinho being a focal point as one of the standout players in La Liga this season.
Despite receiving solid offers from unnamed Premier League and Bundesliga clubs this month, all were rejected. A decision on Savinho’s future has been postponed to the summer, a situation that could favor Barcelona.
Manchester City, being under the ownership of the City Football Group, which also owns Girona and Troyes, could potentially transfer Savinho’s rights from Troyes to another club within the group. Sport speculates that Savinho might formally become part of Manchester City, signaling a rise in his market value.
While there have been initial contacts with Manchester City, they are described as ‘still very incipient.’ Savinho himself has expressed a dream of playing for Manchester City, and if manager Pep Guardiola expresses interest, the deal seems likely to materialize.
