Despite Green Bay playing their first season without Aaron Rodgers, the Bears suffered losses in both games against their division rivals. The Packers’ dominance extended to a 10-game winning streak against the Bears.
Trash talk is a common occurrence in the NFL, but when it happens in April, it tends to grab attention. Edge rusher Montez Sweat made headlines a week before the NFL Draft by boldly stating that he refuses to tolerate losing to the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears’ long-standing nemesis and NFC North rivals.
In an interview on the Green Light podcast with former NFL edge rusher Chris Long, Sweat acknowledged the need to end the Bears’ losing streak against the Packers.
Sweat has only participated in one Bears-Packers game, which ended in a 17-9 defeat for Chicago in Week 18. Apparently, that loss was enough to fuel Sweat’s determination to turn the tide.
“I’m telling you right now, I’;m not losing to Green Bay this year. I can’t do it. I can’t do it man. I’m not losing to Green Bay this year.”

The Bears’ struggles against the Packers have been well-documented, with Green Bay maintaining a dominant hold over Chicago for years. The Bears’ last victory against the Packers occurred during Donald Trump’s presidency, marking a 10-game losing streak and 15 losses in the last 16 matchups against their NFC North rivals. Even during the Aaron Rodgers era, the Bears were thoroughly dominated by the Packers.
The transition to Jordan Love at quarterback for the Packers did not provide any respite for the Bears, as they suffered defeats in both matchups against their division rivals last season.
“I’m letting you know right now, man, I’m not losing to Green Bay this year; Sweat said. I can’t do it, I can’t do it, man. I’m not losing to Green Bay this year. We’ve created a real rivalry over there.”

With the roster undergoing significant changes and the addition of key pieces expected during the upcoming NFL Draft, there’s optimism that the Chicago Bears could finally break their losing streak against the Green Bay Packers. The stage seems set for the Bears to rise to supremacy in the NFC North.
The anticipated arrival of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams, projected as the first overall selection in the draft, adds further excitement for Bears fans. Williams has the opportunity to quickly win over the Bears faithful, including Montez Sweat, by leading the team to victories over their arch-rivals, the Packers.
Sweat emphasized that Williams won’t be shouldering the burden alone, given the talent surrounding him on the Bears’ roster. With a solid supporting cast, Williams has the potential to make a significant impact and help propel the Bears to success, including victories over the Packers.
““Be yourself, Don’t try to do it all by yourself. You got a great group of guys around you. I know you seen the pieces: Keenan Allen, Swift from Philly. We got some guys around him. … He’s obviously a talented guy. Just don’t try to do it all in one night.””
