Is Philadelphia looking to dump one of their top free agent signings?

During a Monday appearance on *The Rich Eisen Show*, NFL insider Tom Pelissero mentioned Bryce Huff as a possible trade candidate ahead of Tuesday’s 4:00 PM Eastern trade deadline.

Pelissero commented specifically, saying, “Teams will likely show interest in players like Bryce Huff, one of the Eagles’ key free-agent signings. He played only six snaps yesterday, apparently due to injuring his hand during warmups. I think he’s a name that could see some trade interest.”

He mentioned Huff alongside other edge rushers like Cleveland Browns’ Za’Darius Smith and New York Giants’ Azeez Ojulari.

However, unlike those players, who are on teams more likely to trade assets, the Eagles have little motivation to sell with their 6-2 record and four-game winning streak.

Furthermore, Huff’s current trade value might not be high. He’s had a lackluster start in Philadelphia, tallying just eight tackles, three quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, and one tackle for loss over eight games. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has openly criticized Huff’s run defense, and Huff’s snap count percentage has steadily declined over the past three games, reflecting the coaching staff’s limited trust in him.

In Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Huff saw only six snaps, with his first appearance coming late in the second quarter. When asked about Huff’s status after the game, head coach Nick Sirianni explained:

“Bryce came off the field after warm-ups. I won’t go into detail on injuries, but his hand was bothering him, and he was receiving treatment in the locker room. So we tried to limit his play.”

Zach Berman from the *PHLY Eagles Podcast* noted that Huff didn’t seem eager to talk post-game.

It would be surprising for the Eagles to already consider parting ways with Huff, given that they signed the 26-year-old to a three-year, $51.1 million contract back in March as their first major free agent acquisition—announced even before Saquon Barkley’s signing.

But if Fangio isn’t planning to utilize Huff, the Eagles might decide to cut their losses. Perhaps he could even be added as a secondary piece in a trade for a different edge rusher.

Whether anything will materialize remains to be seen ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.
