Preston North End are eager for some of their players to gain first-team experience elsewhere before the start of the 2024/25 season. With another year in the Championship ahead, more departures are expected before the transfer deadline.

The Lilywhites are taking a careful approach to potential deals, waiting for the right clubs to show interest. They need to make important decisions about which players to keep and which to move on. In a recent update on possible loan exits, Lowe mentioned, according to the Lancashire Evening Post: “Yes, later on. We’re working on a few things. The window closes on August 30, so we have some time to finalize any deals. We don’t want to delay too much, but once the timing is right, we will let the youngsters go.”

Preston North End have several players in their squad who would gain from regular first-team experience elsewhere. Among them are James Pradic, Kitt Nelson, Felipe Rodriguez-Gentile, Kian Taylor, Theo Mawene, Josh Seary, and Kaeydn Kamara.

Left-back Kian Best, who made 14 appearances last season after progressing through the academy, demonstrates that there is a clear pathway for young players to reach the first team at the club.

Preston have already parted ways with Alan Browne, Greg Cunningham, Ben Woodburn, Lewis Leigh, and Patrick Bauer. Their departures have created space and freed up funds for new signings.

Some of these players have already found new clubs on free transfers. Browne has joined Sunderland, Woodburn has moved to Salford City in League Two, and Leigh has signed with Bromley, newly promoted to the Football League after winning the National League play-off final. Winger Liam Millar has returned to FC Basel following his loan spell.

Lowe’s team is taking a cautious approach to their recruitment, waiting for the right opportunities to emerge.

Preston North End have strengthened their attacking options by signing attacking midfielder Sam Greenwood on loan from Leeds United, where he spent last season with Middlesbrough. Additionally, Icelandic international Stefán Teitur Þórðarson has joined from Silkeborg.

Looking ahead, Preston have until the end of August to finalize any further deals. Their first match of the new season is against newly relegated Sheffield United next Friday.
