According to reporter Alan Nixon on Patreon, Morecambe’s new manager Derek Adams had discussions with Swindon Town. Morecambe has reappointed the Scotsman for a third term. The Shrimps are gearing up for another season in League Two after finishing 15th last season with 58 points.
Adams, 48, has opted to return to the North West team. Despite having other opportunities recently, journalist Nixon reported on Patreon that he engaged in talks with Swindon Town about their managerial position.
Adams has now rejoined the Mazuma Stadium and expressed his enthusiasm on the club website: “I’m looking forward to it! Morecambe FC is a club I know well from my previous two spells, and I am eager to get started.
“There is a lot of work to be done over the transfer window to prepare for the new season, and I understand the Board of Directors wanted a manager familiar with the club and its workings.”
Morecambe Boss Had Talks with Swindon Town
Swindon Town has appointed Mark Kennedy as their new manager following an extensive search to replace Michael Flynn. Gavin Gunning had served as interim manager at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, Morecambe has been exploring their options after Ged Brannan departed to become the assistant manager at Accrington Stanley, another League Two team.

Adams first joined Morecambe in 2019 and remarkably led them to promotion to League One.
As a player, he was a midfielder for teams such as Aberdeen, Burnley, and Motherwell, amassing over 300 appearances before retiring in 2009.
Born in Glasgow, Adams began his managerial career with Ross County and Plymouth Argyle before taking charge of the Shrimps.
Adams parted ways with the Lancashire club in 2021 to join Bradford City, but returned to Morecambe for a second stint after being dismissed by the Bantams.
He was then lured back to Scotland by Ross County late last year but was relieved of his duties by the Staggies in February.
What’s Next for Morecambe and Swindon Town?
Morecambe’s decision to bring Adams back could prove beneficial, given his deep knowledge of the club and extensive experience in the Football League.
The Shrimps will aim for a higher finish next season and have significant work to do during the transfer window.
Similarly, Swindon Town hopes that Mark Kennedy, formerly of Lincoln City, can steer them to success in the upcoming season. Both clubs are focused on strengthening their squads to achieve their goals.
