Despite acquiring several promising players from the transfer portal, not everyone appears enthusiastic about Ohio State’s football program’s moves this offseason.

During the open period following Spring ball, the Ohio State football program showed limited activity in the transfer portal, securing just one scholarship player. However, their activity intensified after the regular season concluded, resulting in the acquisition of several high-caliber players.

Ohio State notably added Caleb Downs, widely regarded as one of the top safeties in college football, to an already formidable secondary. Additionally, the Buckeyes secured Quinshon Judkins from Ole Miss, a running back with an impressive track record of 29 rushing touchdowns and nearly 2,800 career rushing yards over two seasons. Notably, Judkins is featured on the cover of the new College Football video game.

The Buckeyes secured several notable players in the transfer portal, not just Caleb Downs and Quinshon Judkins. Among them, they potentially acquired a new starting quarterback and offensive lineman. However, despite these additions, some remain unsatisfied with the Buckeyes’ offseason moves.

Rivals, in particular, appears unimpressed with Ohio State’s recruitment efforts, indicating that they don’t consider it a particularly strong offseason for the program.

Awarding a C- grade despite the addition of two standout players seems perplexing. Ohio State strategically filled positions of need and bolstered depth with their transfers. The acquisition of Caleb Downs facilitated the transition of Sonny Styles to linebacker, addressing a position with limited experience.
I agree, a B+ seems more fitting considering Ohio State’s efforts in the transfer portal. While they addressed several needs and strengthened their team, enhancing the offensive line further could have elevated their grade even more, considering it’s still seen as the team’s weakest unit.
