The route map for the Rob Burrow memorial run has been finalized. Participants will begin their run from Roundhay Park tonight (Friday, June 7) at 7pm, following the Strava Rhino route.

The event, organized by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, honors Rob Burrow, who passed away on Sunday after battling motor neurone disease (MND) for four and a half years.

The course was designed by local running enthusiast John McLoughlin to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and to support fundraising efforts for the MND Association and Leeds Hospitals Charity.

Runners are requested to gather at the main gates of Roundhay Park on Prince’s Avenue between 6:45pm and 6:50pm, with the run starting at 7pm in honor of Burrow’s iconic Leeds Rhinos jersey number.

The runners will follow the route starting from Prince’s Avenue, continuing along Street Lane, looping around via Harrogate Road and King Lane, then onto Allerton Grange and Lidgett Lane, and finally returning to the gates at Roundhay Park. A complete route map can be viewed on the Strava website and app.

Participants of all abilities are welcome, with various paces to ensure inclusivity. The event focuses on community, remembrance, and celebrating Rob’s life. Participation is voluntary, with runners taking part at their own risk.

Runners are encouraged to wear their Rob Burrow Marathon tops, replica jerseys or similar attire, creating a sea of blue and amber as we take to the streets of Leeds.

For those who wish to extend their support beyond the run, donations can be made to the Burrow family support fund here.
