Eseh has spent the last month at Headingley.
Leeds Rhinos will extend Sam Eseh’s loan from Wigan Warriors this week. The young prop has been with the Rhinos for the past month, featuring in their recent matches against Warrington Wolves and Hull KR.
Eseh’s initial one-month loan ended on Sunday, but Rugby League Live has reported that the clubs have agreed to extend the arrangement. This means he will still be available when the Rhinos face Huddersfield Giants this Thursday.
This extension is a boost for head coach Brad Arthur, who is currently missing several forwards, including Tom Holroyd, Mickael Goudemand, and Justin Sangare. Holroyd faces an indefinite absence, Goudemand is expected to be out for another three to five weeks, and there is no set timeline for Sangare’s return after his knee injury.
The 21-year-old, who was signed by Wigan from Wakefield Trinity in the off-season, has played 19 Super League matches in his career, including four with the Rhinos. He delivered a strong performance in their recent loss to Hull KR on Saturday.
Thursday’s match against the Giants is crucial for the Rhinos. A win would close the gap between them and the top six to just two points. However, a loss to Huddersfield—who helped Leeds by beating Salford last week—could deal a severe blow to their faltering play-off hopes.
