On Wednesday, the Connecticut Sun announced that backup guard Moriah Jefferson underwent arthroscopic surgery on her right ankle earlier this week, specifically on Monday. Jefferson, an eight-year veteran, had appeared off the bench in each of the Sun’s first nine games of the season but has been sidelined for their last four games. She is expected to be out for at least the next three weeks, with plans for a re-evaluation following that period.

Acquired from the Phoenix Mercury in a sign-and-trade deal before the season began, Jefferson has been averaging 2.1 points per game in 6.8 minutes per game up to this point. Connecticut, with a record of 13-3, has recently lost its last two games. They will aim to break this streak when they take on the Washington Mystics in the final game of their three-game road trip on Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m.
