Replacing a running back like Kaleb Johnson, who contributed 61% of Iowa’s touchdowns, 43% of their total yardage, and 43% of their total touches this season, is no easy feat. This is the challenge the Hawkeyes face on Monday after Johnson’s decision to sit out against the Missouri Tigers.
Initially expected to share carries this season, Johnson took full advantage of his opportunity when Leshon Williams was sidelined by injury before Iowa’s opener. Johnson went on to rack up 1,537 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns, setting a new program record for rushing touchdowns in a single season.
