The Predators have decided to alter their coaching staff for the upcoming season. They confirmed to Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean that they will not renew the contract of assistant coach Dan Hinote, which expires at the end of June.
Hinote, who played as an energetic winger for nine years in the NHL with Colorado and St. Louis, chose to play one last season in Sweden in 2009-10 before retiring from professional hockey.
However, Hinote quickly found new employment after retiring. He became an assistant coach with Columbus, spending four seasons in that role before transitioning to scouting, where he worked for another four years with the Blue Jackets. He then spent two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program before former Nashville GM David Poile hired him in 2020. After four years with the Predators, Hinote is now seeking new opportunities.
While Hinote will not be returning, the other assistant coaches will. Daugherty noted that Nashville’s two other assistant coaches, Tom Richards and Derek MacKenzie, are expected to come back next season, meaning there will be only one new addition to Andrew Brunette’s staff.
