Vikings Place Ivan Pace Jr. on Injured Reserve, Sign LB Jamin Davis

And Gabe Murphy is now on the roster, too

The Minnesota Vikings have been dealt a setback on the defensive front with the news that linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. has been placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. Pace, who was forced to leave Sunday’s victory over the Chicago Bears early in the game, will miss at least the next four contests. He could potentially return by Week 17 when the Vikings face the Green Bay Packers, should he be designated to return from IR.

To fill the gap left by Pace, the Vikings have signed linebacker Jamin Davis. Davis, a first-round pick (19th overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft by the then-Washington Football Team, brings some intrigue with his experience. He started eight games as a rookie and went on to start 28 out of 29 games between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. However, Davis was released by Washington in late October after playing in just five games this season.

With his pedigree as a former first-rounder and his prior experience as a starter, Davis could provide valuable depth to the Vikings’ linebacker corps during Pace’s absence.

Davis then signed with the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad, which is where he was when Minnesota signed him. The Packers did not elevate him from the practice squad since they brought him aboard. Because he was signed from another team’s practice squad, Davis will need to be on the roster for at least three games.

The Vikings also announced that they have officially activated edge defender Gabriel Murphy from injured reserve. They had until tomorrow to make that decision after opening his 21-day window on 6 November, and now the much-heralded undrafted free agent from UCLA is officially on the Minnesota roster.

Those are all the moves that the Vikings made today, folks. We’ll start seeing practice reports for Week 13 tomorrow, and once we get those we will bring them to you here.
