Fulham’s Saša Lukić sustained an injury while representing Serbia on international duty.

The 28-year-old midfielder featured in his national team’s 2-0 victory over Switzerland over the weekend but was substituted in the 53rd minute for CSKA Moscow’s Saša Zdjelar.

The Serbian football association announced the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, confirming Lukić’s injury.

Reports indicate that he was substituted after suffering an injury to his right acromioclavicular joint.

The national team have revealed that he underwent ‘detailed medical examinations’ and results have shown he won’t be in contention to face Spain on Tuesday.

The Serbian FA have further stated the former Torino man will return to London and will undergo treatment with the Premier League side.

Zdjelar, who assisted Aleksandar Mitrović’s goal against Switzerland, could replace the Fulham midfielder against La Roja tomorrow.

Marco Silva has mainly used Lukić as a defensive midfielder and started him in all seven Premier League games this season. Fulham will take on Aston Villa on Saturday and the Serbian may be doubtful for this clash.
