Hailing from Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas, Mix is ranked as the 16th best tight end nationally and the 303rd overall prospect in the country. Additionally, he holds the 43rd spot among Texas players, a state that hosts Oklahoma’s rival, the Texas Longhorns.

The upcoming 2024 fall season marks a new era for SEC football as Oklahoma football, alongside former Big 12 counterparts Texas and Texas A&M, becomes part of the conference. This move positions Oklahoma as a geographical outlier, and it will be intriguing to witness how they fare in what is widely regarded as the nation’s premier conference.

Venables’ squad faces a formidable challenge in earning respect among a stacked SEC conference that includes iconic programs like the Florida Gators, Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Longhorns, and other renowned schools. Oklahoma football’s ability to recruit a talented player over two top-tier programs suggests promising prospects for the Sooners’ future. As the new era of both SEC and NCAA Football unfolds, anticipation runs high, and betting against Coach Venables and the Sooners would be unwise, as they historically rise to challenges.
